Bringing mainlanders to NE States : NE youth to launch awareness campaign of the region

A small campaign "Fight 4 your Pride" started by a few groups of NE youth in Delhi will kick start an Awareness Tour from Delhi and other Indian States to the NE States.
At a press conference today, the campaign coordinator said that the team received a tempo traveler as donation of from Suresh Prasad, proprietor of S3S � real estate dealer from Manipur, who is based in Delhi and is associated with the group as a key supporter and well wisher.
The young team members are planning to meet State Governments and interact with people along the way.
The group also intends to organise NE festivals in the near future.
The campaign 'fight 4 your pride' was started in 2010 in the aftermath of series of attacks and discrimination faced by the NE people in Delhi.

Shalomi Maringmei, who started the campaign, said that she came to Delhi five years back and was working in a consultancy company .
In her everyday movement, Shalomi told a gathering of volunteers and media persons today, that she was frequently teased and commented on her looks and physical appearance, while she had to endure harassments from her landlord such as high rent charges, not allowing to invite friends to her place etc.
She shared her problems with her colleagues at her workplace and together they began the campaign.
Rahul, who helped initiate the campaign, informed that they introduced a helpline number 96-5400-5300 which began to reach out to NE people.
Rahul said "We ourselves face a lot of problem when we intervene in filing cases at the police stations".
Many a time the volunteers would be dismissed and were brushed aside at the police stations, at times even literally, thrown out of Police stations, Rahul told reporters here.
Sangeeta Takhelmayum, co � proprietor of S3S � estate, also associated with the group, appealed to all States in North East India to make use of the helpline and inform young boys and girls who are planning to venture out of their State, either for studies or employment.
The helpline is a 24 hour emergency and intervention arrangement for any help including admissions and guidance for new comers.
The group stated that most Complaints were of harassment by land lord, molestation and racist comments.
Pledging to fight for a cause under "fight 4 your pride, the Group seeks to include a chapter on Racism to in all state educational boards including CBSE.
