Chairman of Land Ports Authority of India to assess Moreh ICP
CM reiterates call for border township

The Chairman of the Land Ports Authority of India would be coming to the State to assess the integrated check post which would be constructed at Moreh.
The Integrated Check Post is being planned to fall in line with the Look East Policy of the Government.
On the other hand, the trade centre built by the State Government at Porompat remains unused.
An official source informed that Moreh is one of the 13 locations selected from across the country where integrated check posts would be constructed.
The Chairman, Sherawat will arrive at Imphal together with his subordinate Mahendra on June 13 .
They are scheduled to proceed to Moreh on the same day and conduct an inspection of the site which is 45 acres in area and identified for the integrated check post.

He will also visit Tamu and try to make an assessment of the cross-border trade potential between India and Myanmar.
In the meantime, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has written to Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath about his plan to develop Moreh as a township of international standard.
Through the letter, Ibobi informed the Urban Development Minister about the State Government's initiative to acquire 2000 acres of land at Moreh.
Ibobi also appealed to send experts to Moreh and prepare a master plan.
On the other hand, the trade centre built at Porompat in 2005 remains unused till date as if it has no utility.
Shops allocated to different parties within the trade centre have not started any business.
There is no sign of any trade activity at the centre.
Meanwhile, Principal Secretary (Commerce and Industries) O Nabakishore presided an official meeting today and discussed about promoting indigenous foods and drinks of Manipur in Myanmar.
