Cop among 2 found shot dead at border

Imphal, April 10 2013:
At least two persons including a Manipur Police Commando, who went fishing at Maklang River across the border in Myanmar, were found shot dead by suspected armed cadres of a UG group along the border fencing at Gogajang Village in Moreh today.
Another 7 persons, who were abducted by armed cadres, were released in the later in evening, around 7 pm, today.
It has been reported that the two persons including the police commandos were killed by suspected armed cadres of a UG group and the same UG group also took the other seven persons into its custody.
The incident occurred when nine of them were on a fishing trip to the Maklang River across the border in Myanmar.

According to police reports, the nine persons drove off in four 2-wheelers on a fishing trip to Maklang River, which is located in Myanmar along the border with Manipur, around 9.45 am on April 9.However, lifeless bodies of two of them were found at around 6 am todayalong the border fencing at Gogajang village.
The two bodies have been identified as that of Chanambam Anil (38), s/o Ch Rajmohon and Thangjam Birjit (35), s/o Th Bihari of Jiri Ningthembam Makha Leikai.
Thangjam Birjit was an IRB Rifleman attached to Thoubal Police Commando and was posted at Moreh recently while Chanambam Anil was an auto-driver in Moreh.
Their bodies have been picked up by Moreh Police and deposited at the mortuary of JNIMS.
The bodies were later handed over to their respective family members after post mortem examination.
The other seven persons, who were abducted but later released, are Sorokhaibam Bhogendro (30), s/o S Mohindro Moreh Ward Number 4; Thangjam Ahanjao (28), s/o Th Maipak of Moreh Ward Number 5; Khaidem Deven (37) of Moreh Ward Number 5; Paonam Bhim Singh, s/o late P Iboyaima of Moreh Ward number 4, his brother Paonam Monte (29); Seleibam Tamu (24), s/o late S Heramani of Moreh Ward number 4 and Aheibam Dinesh (28), s/o late A Bidhu of Moreh Ward number 3 .
Meanwhile, in protest against the killing as well as the abduction, a public rally was taken out in Moreh town today.
The rally began from the community hall in Moreh Meitei Leikai in Moreh ward number 4 .
