New Delhi, February 10 2014:
The NE Core Committee today reiterated its demand for enactment of a strong and comprehensive anti-racial law, social protection for NE women, stern action against Delhi Police for refusing to register FIR and inclusion of NE history in the national curriculum.
The committee also stated that it has rejected the MHA constituted committee, besides the bureaucratic approach on the ground that it was formed without consultation of the NE communities or NE representatives.
Speaking at a press conference organised by the committee, Chairman of Royal Tripura Foundation Pradyot Manikya Debbarmma said, "We need a new law.
My grandfather had served the Indian Army, how much mainstream can we be" ? .
Boxer Shiva Thapa, who is leaving for Germany to represent India said, "I am representing India and I feel sad that my own country back home is not proud of me and my identity" .

He said, "When I punch, I punch not only for my community or NE but for the millions of Indian whose blessings I receive" .
Even as the demands for justice for Nido Tania, rape of a 14-year old girl and many others are going on, a report of two Manipuri youths who went out in the market in Maidangiri in South Delhi were beaten up by men on bike who hit them with sticks.
They were admitted at AIIMs last night.
One of them has been discharged while the other is still under medical care, said Alana Golmei, who also spoke at the press conference.
She said the NE Helpline (a 24-hour helpline) received over a 100 distress call in the month of November alone last year.
Many of the cases were non-payment of salaries and harassments at workplace, she told.
Moreover , the forensic report of Nido Tania confirmed his death was due to external injury in the head and face.
The bail hearing of the accused is scheduled for tomorrow, while the High Court hearing on the status of the NE safety and security case from the police is scheduled for February 13 .
Meanwhile, the State Bhawans in the capital came under severe criticism.
These are functioning like 'yatri niwas' or a canteen", said Maharaja Debbarma.
The need for making these State Bhawans function as a nodal point for the NE communities was highlighted.
On the status of several proposals by the political leaders and the Delhi CM in the aftermath of the last week protest, Binalakshmi Nepram, one of the key core committee members said that till now there has been no follow-up or further information from the Delhi CM office.
The core committee clarified that the demand for 'the anti racial law' applied to all racial crimes in India.
