Imphal, June 07 2023:
Keishamthong Constituency MLA Nishikant Singh Sapam has called for judicious utilisation of State forces to prevent further bloodshed and destruction of properties.
Today, members of Team Nishikant led by the MLA donated relief materials such as rice, dal, salt, biscuits, mugs, buckets, soaps etc to relief camps set up at Phayeng in Imphal West.
Speaking to media persons, Nishikant said that he will apprise the Chief Minister and other authorities concerned about the desire of people to remove the Assam Rifles posts at Phayeng- Kangchup side.
Saying that he also has been consulting with some prominent personalities to replace the Assam Rifles posts with other Central security forces like Border Security Force (BSF) whom the people trust, the MLA continued that the Government needs to take note of the misgivings of the people and work accordingly.

The strength of State force might be around 30,000 active personnel but people don't see adequate deployment of police in sensitive areas, the MLA claimed and added that priority must be given on sensitive areas while deploying State force so as to protect lives and properties.
Nishikant further stated that he understands the plight of the people living at the periphery of the valley districts and will work in accordance with the sentiments of the people.
One Angom Tomba who is staying at Phayeng relief camp said that his house at Kangchup Chingkhong has been torched by Kuki militants.
Saying that it is the villagers who have been guarding the area from Tairenpokpi to Kadangband since May 3 due to non deployment of adequate security force, Tomba said that people especially children and women who have been spending sleepless nights will rest easier if the Government sends adequate security forces in the area.
Ningthoujam Basanta-kumar who is president of a local club in Phayeng said that the Government seems to be not taking the plights of Meeteis living adjacent to Kuki villages seriously.
Saying that Kuki militants continue to attack Meetei villages even after all the assurance given by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, he asked if the Central Government is under the Kuki militants groups.
Why are the Central security forces not able to control these militant groups, he further asked and added that peace will remain a distant dream until the Government pushes back the militants who intruded into Manipur from Myanmar.
