Covid: One succumbs, 16 test positive

The State's Covid-19 death toll has risen to 2114 after an individual from Kakching district succumbed to the virus during the last 24 hours.
As per a report of the State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee, the victim was fully vaccinated though he had co-morbidities.
Out of 1,126 samples tested for Covid-19 during the last 24 hours, 16 were confirmed positive at RIMS (2) and other testing centres (14) which implied daily positivity rate of 1.4 per cent.
The 16 people who have been tested positive are residents of Imphal East (4), Imphal West (3), Thoubal (2), Bishnupur (4), Kakching (2) and Kangpokpi (1) .
Following recovery, 23 Covid-19 positive people were discharged during the last 24 hours from home isolation (15), RIMS (2) and CCCs (6) .
The cumulative number of Covid-19 positive people in the State now stands at 1,36,888 (general population 1,31,875 and Central security personnel 5,013) .
This figure includes 268 active cases (general population 258 and Central security personnel 10) and 1,34,506 recovered cases (general population 1,29,510 and Central security personnel 4,996) .
The recovery rate as on Saturday is 98.26 per cent.
At present, 281 Covid beds are vacant at JNIMS and another 104 at RIMS.
A total of 235 D-type oxygen cylinders and 120 B-type oxygen cylinders were made available to different health facilities of the State yesterday.
Taking into account 4842 doses jabbed yesterday, the cumulative number of Covid vaccine doses administered in the State has reached 27,25,959 (first dose 15,16,134, second dose 11,48,967 and precautionary dose 60,858) .
Till Friday, 49.08 per cent of the State's total eligible population has been given both the first and second doses of Covid vaccine while 61.15 per cent has received the first dose.
