In 24 hrs, COVID active cases dramatically plummet to 442

The State's COVID-19 active cases have plummeted to just 442 on Tuesday even though the total number of active cases stood at 1,109 yesterday.
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, the number of COVID-19 active cases after reconciliation with the data from IDSP, home isolation and Death Committee report as on January 5 is 442 (general population 417 and Central security personnel 25) .
Following the sharp and dramatic decline in the number of active cases, the recovery rate has jumped to 97.16 per cent.
The cumulative number of positive cases is 28,418 (general population 25,036 and Central security personnel 3,382 .
The cumulative number of discharged cases after reconciliation with the data from IDSP, home isolation and Death Committee report is 27,613 (general population 24,260 and Central security personnel 3,353) .
Notwithstanding the sudden and dramatic improve- ment in the recovery rate, two persons aged 34 (male, Imphal East) and 75 (female, Imphal West) died of COVID-19 at JNIMS and RIMS respectively during the last 24 hours.
As such, the death toll has risen to 363 .
In the meantime, 86 people including one personnel of CAPF were tested positive for COVID-19 at Imphal West, JNIMS, Lamjingba Hospital, Escent Diagnostics, Shija Hospital, Advance Hospital, Raj Medicity, Babina Diagnostics, Bishnupur, Kakching, Noney and Tamenglong.
The 85 civilians who have been tested positive are residents of Imphal West (48), Imphal East (5), Thoubal (2), Bishnupur (5), Kakching (3), Tamenglong (13), Noney (2), Senapati (5) and Tengnoupal (2) .
All of them are local people who do not have any significant travel history.
On the other hand, the total number of discharged persons after reconciliation with the data from IDSP, home isolation and Death Committee report as on January 5 is 751 (690+61=751) .
The latest 61 cases of recovery were reported from CAPF (1), home isolation (37), JNIMS (8), RIMS (7), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (1), Shija Hospital (2), Churachandpur (1), Kakching (3) and Bishnupur (1) .
