Imphal, August 04 2014:
Leaders of the incumbent Government who have least concern for the State's burning issues and little respect for the people's voice should step down from their respective posts before a mass uprising storms the State, asserted women activists who took part in a protest demon-stration staged at Kongba Ucheckon Khunou today in pursuit of the demand for implementation for Inner Line Permit System in Manipur.
The protest demonstration was jointly organised by the Panthoibi Women Welfare Association, Nupi Chaokhat Khongthang Lup, Ireima Apunba Nupi Lup and Social Youth United Club, Kongba Ucheckon Khunou.

The protesters stated that the incumbent Government must acknowledge the people's aspiration and senti- ments and work accordingly.
Brutal police crack down on young students and detention of women activists would not be able to bring peace in the society.
Strongly condemning brutal police crack down on young students, the women activists demanded unconditional release of all the 28 women activists currently lodged in jail.
A similar protest demonstration was staged at Kanto Sabal under Sekmai police station under the aegis of the Kanto Khunou Apunba Nupi Samaj.
At Sekmai Keithel, Sekmai Advanced Women Society organised a sit-in-protest demanding enforcement of ILPS in Manipur.
During the protest demonstration, Sekmai Bazar re- mained shut and half the breadth of the highway passing through Sekmai Bazar was blocked.
Protest demonstration for enforcement of ILPS was also staged at Konung Mamang under the aegis of the Purei-romba Nupi Keithel Com- mittee.
One of the protestors Ngangbam Bina expressed her concern on the rise of non-local population in the State at an larming level.
She further expressed her confidence that the indigenous people of the State can be safeguarded with the provisions of ILPS.
At the same time, the issue of non-locals could be checked under the ILP system by allowing them to stay/live in the State systematically.
She also appealed to all the people of the State to extend all possible help in order to achieve the demand for Inner Line Permit System.
Thongju Pechu Lampak Meira Paibi and the Kha Naorem Leikai Meira Paibi too staged a sit-in-protest at the premises of the Thongju Chigonglei Makhong Development Club.
Similar protest demonstrations on the same demand were also staged at Kwakeithel Mayaikoibi and Uripok Sorbon Thingel.
