Death toll rises by 18; 798 test positive

The State recorded 18 Covid related deaths and 798 new positive cases during the last 24 hours, according to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang.
For the first time in the State, two cases of Black Fungus were detected at RIMS and Shija Hospital today.
The two patients are male, aged 45 and 46 respectively and they were earlier infected by COVID-19 .
Imphal West and Imphal East districts witnessed 10 deaths (five each) .
The victims from Imphal West were aged 54 (male), 48 (male), 51 (male), 35 (female) and 49 (male).
The Imphal East residents who have succumbed to the virus were aged 65 (male), 48 (male), 67 (male), 62 (female) and 70 (male).
Two of the other victims were residents of Churachandpur aged 69 (male) and 63 (male); two of Kakching aged 65 (male) and 60 (female); one each of Jiribam, Kangpokpi, Noney and Thoubal aged 74 (male), 74 (female), 35 (male) and 38 (male) respectively.
The 18 victims expired at Shija Hospital, Jiribam District Hospital, Raj Medicity, CCC Kangpokpi, Thoubal District Hospital, Churachandpur District Hospital, RIMS and JNIMS.
Taking into account the 18 victims, the COVID-19 death toll has climbed to 825 .
On the other hand, 798 people including one CAPF personnel were found infected by COVID-19 out of 5720 samples tested during the last 24 hours.
The 797 civilians are residents of Imphal West (323), Imphal East (207), Thoubal (81), Bishnupur (49), Kakching (14), Ukhrul (19), Churachandpur (52), Chandel (3), Senapati (13), Tamenglong (8), Kangpokpi (9) and Jiribam (19) .
They were tested positive at RIMS, JNIMS, district hospitals and other private testing centres.
Following recovery, 629 COVID-19 positive people were discharged during the last 24 hours from home isolation (408), CAPF (16), RIMS (31), JNIMS (18), BB (5), NSU (10), Shija Hospital (13), Lanva (1), RD Wing (4), Babina Speciality Hospital (8), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (48), Jivan Hospital (6), Thoubal (12), Bishnupur (3), Kakching (8), Tamenglong (4), Tengnoupal (2), Churachandpur (11), Chandel (2) and Ukhrul (19).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 50,549 (general population 47,788 and Central security personnel 3,761).This figure includes 8,942 active cases (general population 8,908 and Central security personnel 34) and 41,782 recovered cases (general population 38,060 and Central security personnel 3,722).The recovery rate as on Tuesday is 81.05 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 1460 D-type oxygen cylinders and 543 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of the State.
As per latest information, the total number of people vaccinated against COVID-19 in the State has reached 3,88,761 .
