The State Government today submitted 13 documents pertaining to communications between the State and the Centre on the ceasefire issue before the Upendra Commission.
It is not clear whether the State had sent the resolutions passed by the Manipur Legislative Assembly to safeguard the territorial integrity of Manipur to the Centre.
A letter dated August 30, 1997 was sent to the Union Home Secretary by the State Chief Secretary regarding the follow up action on control of the tension in Manipur in connection with the issue of territorial integrity.
A fax message dated July 28, 1997 was sent to the Joint Secretary NE GK Pillai regarding the clarification sought on the territorial integrity of Manipur.
A fax message reply dated July 28, 1997 sent by GK Pillai to the State Chief Secretary stating that there is no proposal in the Home Ministry to affect the State territory was also included in the documents submitted today.
Copy of a letter dated August 21, 1997 sent by the PMO's PS to the State Chief Secretary titled "No change in territorial integrity of Manipur - PM" was also submitted.
A fax reply was sent from the Union Home Minister to the then Chief Minister of Manipur intimating that the Centre has not accepted in principal or otherwise to unify Naga inhabited areas neighboring Nagaland as alleged by Issac Swu.
Tiddim traffic: Normal traffic along the Tiddim Road was affected due to the bandh imposed by the Ningthoukhong Bazar Ima Iben Lup at Ningthoukhong, bazar from today.
The indefinite bandh was called demanding dismantling of the kiosks constructed above the Ningthoukhong bazar market shed.
Vehicles from the city side did not go beyond Ningthoukhong as the bandh supported squatted on the road.
