Chandel records 56.9 percent TPR 452 new cases, one death logged

Imphal, January 28 2022:
Manipur registered a steep spike with 452 people testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.
On January 25, the State returned figures of 461 new cases and on January 21, Manipur saw 578 new cases.
The 452 new cases were detected out of 2172 samples tested in the last 24 hours to peg the day's positivity rate at a high 20.8 percent.
Chandel broke all previous records to return a high daily positivity rate of 56.9 percent as 29 samples returned positive out of 51 tested.
Other districts to record the daily TPR in double digit include Kakching (32.3 percent) Imphal East (29.3 percent), Kamjong (28.6 percent), Imphal West (26.0 percent), Noney (20 percent), Kangpokpi (19.4 percent), Bishnupur (19.0 percent), Thoubal (12.1 percent), and Churachandpur (11.2 percent) .
Save for Jiribam, Pherzawl and Tengnoupal, the remaining other districts logged above 5 percent daily positivity rate.
Pherzawl, where 5 samples were tested was the only district with no positive result.
With 452 more cases, the cumulative number of positive cases in the State has now reached 1,32,156 .
The 452 new cases included 34 Central security personnel and their positive statuses were confirmed during testing at RIMS (39), JNIMS (38) and other testing centres (375) .
The 418 positive cases from amongst the civilians are from Imphal East (135), Imphal West (172), Thoubal (21), Bishnupur (22), Kakching (11), Kamjong (2), Kangpokpi (6), Ukhrul (6), Tamenglong (5), Tengnoupal (3), Noney (3), Senapati (7), Chandel (9) and Churachandpur (16) .
The number of active cases is now 3804 including 242 Central security personnel.
Other than the steep spurt and high daily positivity rate registered in the last 24 hours, Manipur also witnessed one death due to the virus to take the total number of deaths to 2037.The deceased person was fully vaccinated but had co-morbidities, said the COVID-19 Common Control Room in a statement.
On the other hand a total of 407 persons were discharged from home isolation (181), RIMS (9), JNIMS (6) and CCCs (21) .
The total number of recovered cases is now 1,26,315 including 4690 Central security personnel and the recovery rate is 95.58 percent.
A total of 8691 vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours to take the total number of people who have received their vaccination to 24,67,527 including 10,39,615 people who have received their second dose.
The precautionary dose administered so far is 22,078 .
Till date 44.41 percent of the eligible population have received the second dose of the vaccine while 58.24 percent have received the first dose.
On January 27, a total of 412 D Type Oxygen cylinders and 91 B Type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health centres across the State.
