The Chief Minister noted that Manipur has already earned a name for itself in the field of sports and art & culture.
But there is lot to be done in the field of development in other areas.
The 66th Republic Day of India was also reportedly celebrated in other district headquarters of the State where the respective Deputy Commissioners saluted the march past parade.
It may be recalled here that normal life in Manipur remained affected on Monday on account of the "general strike" called given by various insurgent groups to boycott the celebration of Republic Day in protest against what they termed as "forcibly merger or annexation" of Manipur with the Union of India in 1949 .
During the strike, there were reports of explosion of bombs at six different places in Imphal, Bishnupur and Thoubal.
All these explosions have taken place despite the stringent security measures put in place in connection with the Republic Day celebration.
