Imphal, August 26:
The UCM today sent a memorandum to the Prime Minister seeking his intervention to open the lifeline of the people of Manipur blocked by the indefinite economic blockade imposed by a Naga body.
The memorandum signed by two convenors of the UCM can not bail out the people of Manipur from this precarious situation within the next 48 hours, UCM will be constrained to take such measures deemed necessary to defend the basic right to life.
The memorandum said certain organizations have been blocking the NH-39 and 53 since July 28 causing scarcity of essential commodities including lifesaving drugs and food.
It said prices of essential commodities have skyrocketed, due to petroleum products scarcity the volume of traffic has thinned out, flow of essential commodities between State capital and other districts as well as inter-district communication have been halted.

They appealed to all the bodies formed in connection with the integrity movement to participate in the meeting.
