Chief Minister N Biren who is also in charge of Finance Department has claimed that the State's annual revenue collection has crossed Rs 1000 crore from the earlier figure of Rs 497 crore.
A reception function was held today at Canchipur office of BJP Manipur Pradesh in honour of five Congress Councillors of Yairipok Municipal Council who have joined BJP recently.
The five Councillors who have joined BJP are Longjam Kamala, Konjengbam Ito, G Ingocha, Md Abdul Khalique and Md Dilip.

It will be very difficult for any Nation or country to rise again if it has suffered economic break down, he said.

Although the State's economy was in a poor shape for a prolonged period, there have been significant changes to the State's economic conditions during the past two years and three months.
The State's GSDP was only 3.77 per cent when the BJP-led Government was sworn in in 2016-17 .
It grew a little by 2017-18 but it grew by 8 per cent in 2018-19.The significant growth in the State's annual revenue collection can be attributed to plugging loopholes in revenue collection process, restoration of peace and reduction of bandhs and blockades to the minimum level, Biren asserted.
He went on to claim that Manipur is no longer much weaker or poorer as compared as to other States of the country.
The Government would start issuing forms for giving loan with grants to SC, ST, OBC and Minority entrepreneurs under Stand-up programme which is a part of the Start-up Manipur project.
Manipur has been awarded Rs five crore for ensuring optimum yield of agricultural produces during the past couple of years.
In health sector too, the State has been conferred the best health policy award for CMHT scheme.
The State received the award for working for the welfare of the State's 30 lakh people, even if the State Government might not have built any mega building.
He then urged the gathering not to be ever disheartened while working for the welfare of people.
If one is a political leader, one should learn to rejoice with the welfare of masses.
However, if a political leader gives first priority to his/her personal aggrandisement, he/she is walking on a wrong path, Biren asserted.
He also hailed the five Councillors of Yairipok Municipal Council for joining BJP after putting faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi, party president Amit Shah and BJP-led State Government.
He said that BJP was able to win the Inner Manipur Parliamentary seat after defeating the Congress candidate which ruled the State for 15 consecutive years because of the many ADC Members, Zilla Parishad Members and Pradhans who had joined BJP.
BJP Manipur Pradesh vice-president Salam Joy, Deputy Speaker K Robindro, MLA Th Satybrata and BJP spokesman Dr Nimaichand Luwang too attended the function.
