HSLC results declared NBS steals the limelight, pass pc stands at 65.4

With overall pass percentage of 65.4 which is slightly higher than last year's figure of 61.5, results of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination 2016 conducted by Board of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (BSEM) have been declared today.
Sohana Laishram of Nirmalabas School, Imphal topped the merit scoring 576 marks out of the total 600 .
Naorem Suzanna of Nirmalabas School and Maibram Vasundhara of Little Flower School secured second and third positions scoring 570 and 569 marks respectively.
Shivraj Takhellambam of St Joseph's School, Sangaiprou with 568 and H Ronald Mangang of Catholic School, Canchipur with 567 marks took fourth and fifth positions respectively in the merit lists.
With as many 11 students making it to the top 25 merit lists, Nirmalabas School performed the best in this HSLC Exam.
St Joseph's School is not far behind with nine students making it to the merit list.

Tiny Tots' Unique School and Little Flower School are no less impressive.
Tiny Tots' Unique School has seven students in the merit list as against six for Little Flower School.
Other schools which secured multiple entries in the merit list are Heritage Convent, Uripok (four), Standard Robarth Hr Sec School Canchipur (three), Regular English High School, Kwakeithel (two) and Catholic School, Canchipur (two).
Male candidates fared a little better than their female colleagues with pass percentage of 68.69 and 61.95 respectively.
Tamenglong scored the highest pass percentage at 82.59 followed by Thoubal (75.39), Churachandpur (68.49), Bishnupur (63.36), Imphal East (62.54), Chandel (61.14), Ukhrul (60.55), Imphal West (60.10) and Senapati (59.45) .
Although this year's pass percentage is slightly higher than last year, it is lower than the figures of 2013 (72 pc) and 2014 (68 pc) .
The results were declared at Babupara today by BOSEM Secretary Ch Sarat, Controller of Examinations K Tiken, Deputy Secretary (Exams) Dr S Mangoljao.
They said that the exam results were earlier scheduled to be declared on May 20 but it was deferred by four days as evaluation of marks could not be completed on account of frequent bandhs and other disturbances.
