Continuing its offensive against the agitators spearheading the current demand to revoke the Armed Forces Special Powers Act from the entire State of Manipur, the State Government has slapped the National Security Acton 12 more persons, including 11 women who were picked up yesterday on charges of burning the Indian flag.
An order detaining the 11 women under the NSA was issued by the District Magistrate of Imphal West today evening.
As reported earlier, the 11 women were arrested from Moirang Hanuba Leirak and are identified as Kh (O) Romoni Devi (40), Langam ningol Bilashini Devi (35), Moirangthem (O) Momon Devi (47), Khangjarakpam (O) Memchoubi Devi (41), Soibam (O) KundaleimaDevi (52), Salam (O) ShushilaDevi (42), Naorem (O) Mema (59), Watham (O) Tombi (60), Naorem (O) Kunje, Mutum (O) Thaja and Sapam (O) Momon (47).Earlier the 11 women were produced before the CJM who remanded them to judicial custody till September 3.Another detainee, Kh Bhogeshwor Singh (26) of Mayang Langjing, presently staying at Thangmeiband Polem Leikai who was arrested earlier has also been booked under NSA.
Bhogeshwor is the vice president of AMSU.
He was produced before the CJM today who remanded him to judicial custody till September 3.Police booked him under u/s l21/121-A/124-A IPC and 7 Cril Law Amendment Act.
The police have also charged the detainee of obstructing Government employees from attending office adding that a group of agitators led by him had even threatened the head of departments and their employees to close down their office until the demand to completely lift AFSPA is conceded to.
