Pressure piled to remove wanted tag on Ratan

Imphal, June 20 2016: As announced earlier, the JAC Against The Announcement of Wanted JCILPS Leader Khomdram Ratan and on implementation of ILPS, Singjamei Wangma Imphal, held a public convention at Singjamei Bheigyabati Leikai Thongkhong today.

JAC convener Th Subashchandra, Nupi Samaj secretary Th Ramani, AMUCO vice-president Gunindro, JCILPS assistant convener Ng Deva, UCM vice-president Sunil Karam and MAPI Council president N Bimol were present at the convention.

Addressing the convention, JCILPS assistant convenor Ng Deva said the State Government has not been totally honest of the agendas that were discussed in the meeting with the Centre on ILPS.

Of the three Bills passed by the Manipur State Assembly on August 31 last year, the Manipur People Protection Bills, 2015 was rejected by the President.

The State Government ought to have pushed to implement the two other Bills that were stayed, he stated.

Khomdram Ratan

The Government made a huge mistake in declaring JCILPS former convenor Khomdram Ratan as a wanted man, he said adding that the Government should immediately withdraw the tag.

"For us (JCILPS activists) Ratan is still the convenor and our leader", Deva said.

JCILPS will observe the death anniversary of Sapam Robinhood on July 8, he informed.

AMUCO vice president Gunindro said the State Government is trying to divert the ILPS movement by declaring Ratan Khomdram as wanted.

The demand for implementation of ILPS in the State is not a new thing, he said while adding, "How long must the people wait for the State Government to disclose all the agendas that were discussed in the meeting between the All Political Party delegations and the President" .

He urged the State Government to pass new Bills in the up coming Assembly session.

He also appealed to all the supporters of the ILPS movement to refrain from causing destruction to public properties during protest.

Khomdram Mocha, brother of Kh Ratan, said, "My brother has not returned home for 18 days now." He decried the accusations of the State Government adding that his family have been through a lot since the State Government fixed a wanted tag on Ratan.

"My brother had given his all to the ILPS movement.

I will follow my brother and give my life for ILPS", he said adding that the movement supporters should choose a more democratic form of protest.

Piling the pressure on the Government, the JAC has announced that if the FIR lodged against Ratan is not revoked then a State wide bandh will be imposed on June 23 and 24.The 48 hours bandh will be followed by social boycott of Ministers and MLAs and court arrest will be staged at different police stations.

If the wanted tag on Ratan is not withdrawn then the Government should also declare the public as wanted people, said the JAC.

Poster campaigns, street corner meetings and public meetings too have been lined up by the JAC apart from supporting all future course of action taken up by the JCILPS.
