Imphal, May 18 2014 :
A discussion programme on the recent attacks on North Eastern people at Delhi was organised today by a group called Fight for Your Pride (FYP) at Manipur Press Club.
FYP member Dr Rahul Anand said that the group was formed in 2011 after taking due note of the rising need for a common platform of students in order to check discrimination and harassment of people from North East region at different cities of India, particularly Delhi.
Since then FYP has been working for the rights of NE people living in Delhi.
Not all people of Delhi discriminate people from North East.
It was some rogues and hooligans who targeted people from the region, he said.

However, Delhi Police never took up necessary preventive or grievance redressal measures because they were always under the influence of local politicians.
Dr Rahul Anand said that FYP launched a campaign against racial discrimination as he felt ashamed of such activities taking place in his home State.
Conceding that FYP cannot check racial discrimination on its own, Rahul Anand said that the campaign would need active cooperation and participation of the student organisa tions of Manipur.
He further informed that a consultative meeting would be held on the same agenda together with representatives of North East Students Organisation and student organisations of Manipur on May 20.One FYP office would be opened at Manipur shortly and FYP members would go around and talk with parents of Manipuri people and students particularly girls who are studying in Delhi, he said.
Four hostels for accommodating girl students and professionals coming from North East region have been constructed at Delhi.
These hostels would be guarded by security personnel and they would be equipped with healthcare facilities.
Moreover, these hostels would have their own transport system for bringing back women professionals who work till late night from their work places.
