One more succumbs, Manipur sees highest surge with 293 cases

The State's COVID-19 death toll has reached 47 following the death of a 69-year old man while 293 positive cases were detected during the last 24 hours.
Incidentally this is the biggest surge in the number of positive cases in 24 hours in Manipur.
Meanwhile, one Epidemiologist of the Health Department who is engaged in monitoring and collection of information about COVID-19 has been tested positive for the virus.
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, a 69-year old COVID-19 positive man who hailed from Imphal West district died at RIMS at around 3.22 pm today.

He was admitted to the hospital on September 6 .
Counting the latest victim, the contagion has claimed 47 lives so far in the State.
On the other hand, 293 people including 15 personnel of CAPF were tested positive for COVID-19 during the last 24 hours at RIMS, JNIMS, Imphal West, Raj Medicity, Thoubal, Ukhrul, Teng-noupal, Churachandpur, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Kakching, Chamber, Sena-pati, ATDC/IRL, Jivan Hospital, Jiribam, Babina Diagnostics, Hillside Hospital, Tamenglong and Imphal Hospital.
The fresh positive cases belong to Imphal West (199), Imphal East (43), Thoubal (16), Tengnoupal (2), Ukhrul (3), Kakching (4), Tamenglong (2), Chura-chandpur (3) and Bishnupur (14) .
All the 278 civilians who have been tested positive have no significant history of travelling outside the State.
In the meantime, 78 COVID-19 patients have been discharged during the last 24 hours from CCC Lamding-Thoubal (2), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (54), CCC Moreh (15), RD Wing (1) and CAPF (6) .
The recovery rate as on Tuesday is 78.17 per cent.
The cumulative figure of COVID-19 positive cases has climbed to 8272 (general population 6433, Central security personnel 1845).It includes 1807 active cases (general population 1496, Central security personnel 311) and 6418 discharged cases (general population 4887, Central security personnel 1531) .
Of the total 293 found infected, 51 people are from Imphal West district today.
They include 11 CRPF personnel, 12 residents of Langthabal Haoreibi and three personnel of Assam Rifles.
While three other individuals were found infected by the virus in Thoubal district, 11 members of a family (briefly reported earlier) belonging to Ningom Thongjao, Imphal East were tested positive for the contagion.
The first COVID-19 case was recorded on March 24 and the patient has recovered.
