Blast rips through AOC hotel, 3 hurt

Imphal, September 14 2011:
Three persons were injured, one of them seriously when a bomb exploded on the first floor of Hotel Royal Lodge located just to the west of Raj Poly Clinic at North AOC today at about 7.20 pm.
The proprietor of the hotel has been taken into custody for further questioning by the police.
Hotel Royal Lodge is a three storeyed building and the bomb exploded at Room M .
The impact of the bomb coupled with the congested rooms, resulted in the impact ripping through ten rooms on the first floor of the hotel.
The three injured in the blast have been identified as KD Paolei son of Daihe of Maiba village, Senapati district, Thingsheipou Raising son of Nungrathing Raising of Chingai village, Ukhrul district and Lalsei Chingloi of Lungtim village, Saikul.
Of the three, KD Paolei is reported to be in critical condition, with multiple injuries on his legs.

It is yet to be confirmed who among the three injured persons was in Room M .
The owner of the hotel, M Lokho Mao has been taken in for further questioning by the police.
Lokho Mao, who was in a corridor adjacent to Room M at the time of the blast, locked himself up in a room and refused to come out, despite persistent calls.
The police had to ultimately break the door open to bring him out.
On inquiry the police found out that there was no register maintained with respect to Room M, triggering speculation of a bigger picture at hand.
On September 13 morning a powerful bomb had exploded near the quarters housing the ADC members.
Verification of the hotel boarders are underway.
