Chingi Numit : CM interacts, hears cases of hill people

As announced by the new BJP-led coalition Government that the 10th every month has been set aside for interaction between top bureaucrats/administrative officers and people of hill districts (Chingi Numit), Chief Minister N Biren today interacted with hill people.
Starting from 8.15 am, the Chief Minister interacted with a large number of hill people coming from the hill districts one after another at the outhouse of the CM's bungalow.
After talking with the Chief Minister for a while, each group of hill people submitted memoranda highlighting their grievances and aspirations.

People coming from different hill districts were visibly elated and gratified on interacting with the Chief Minister freely inside his official residence.
Talking to media persons about his meeting with hill people, the Chief Minister asked all Ministers, MLAs, the Chief Secretary, top civil and police officials to interact with hill people on the 10th of every month from 8 am to 1.30 pm, and take note of their grievances and aspirations.
Ministers, MLAs and Government officials should listen to the people's grievances and aspirations and they must invest all efforts to redress the people's grievances.
If they are not in a position to fulfil people's expectations, they should explain their difficulties or appeal to the people to wait, he said.
There have been many complaints about bad roads, dysfunctional health centres, snubbing of aggrieved people by Government officials etc.
After identifying the major problems and grievances of hill people through direct interaction, the same have been informed to officials concerned , Biren stated.
He also expressed keen desire for the media fraternity of the State to interact with hill people and highlight the Government's new initiatives.
"To facilitate direct interaction with people who come to meet me on the 15th of every month which has been designated as the People's Day inside the Chief Minister's official residence, shamianas would be erected but the visitors must keep their vehicles outside" .
Ministers, MLAs and top Government officials should make similar arrangements at their own places which would be convenient to them, the Chief Minister stated.
Thom Thom Kahor Society, Khuirungtang Hungpung secretary W Chahongnao who came to meet the Chief Minister told The Sangai Express that they were gratified by N Biren's noble initiative.
He said that they never got any opportunity to meet Chief Ministers of the State under such free and cordial atmosphere in the past.
As Ukhrul district has become warmer and warmer, afforestation programme was taken up in many villages of Ukhrul district since 2007 in the process of which a large number of saplings were planted.
He said that he came to urge the Chief Minister to provide necessary assistance from the side of the State Government to make the afforestation programme a successful venture.
Aimol Tribe Union Manipur president RT Akhel Aimol appealed to the State Government to open an IRB post close to the Aimol villages located near Pallel in view of the insecure situation prevailing in the area.
He said that he came to Imphal to submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister towards this end.
Kwatha Nongpok Ningthou and Panthoibi Enat Thougal Lup president Takhellambam Nando said that they came here to highlight the woes of Kwatha villagers and problems encountered during Nongpok Ningthou and Panthoibi Lai Haraoba.
People of Kwatha village located near Indo-Myanmar border pillar number 81 have been protecting the boundary of Manipur, he claimed.
Chairmen's Association, Tamenglong president Hukamang Gangmei said that he came to the interaction programme to highlight (to the Chief Minister) irregularities in paying wages to MGNREGS job card holders of Tamenglong district.
