NSCN IM gives nod to bury mortal remains at native place

Led by Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, befitting tributes have been paid to Phungyar Assembly Constituency legislator Wungnaoshang Keishing, who passed away yesterday morning due to a personal ailment.
Accompanied by a Manipur Rifles Band party Wungnaoshang's body was brought to Manipur Legislative Assembly complex from his Babupara residence in the morning and after laying of wreaths by members of the House, relatives and staff of the Assembly the same was taken for burial to his native place in Kongkan village under Kamjong sub-division of Ukhrul district.
Amid solemn musical tribute and gun salute by MR personnel, the Chief Minister, Assembly Speaker I Hemochandra, leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Radhabinod Koijam and several legislators paid homage to the departed soul.
Describing Wungnaoshang's departure as a great loss for the State, chief Minister O Ibobi Singh speaking to some news-persons on the sideline of the condolence event said untimely demise of the MLA will be felt even more by the people of Phungyar AC.

When pointed out that some Naga groups have raised objection on the burial of Wungnaoshang's body in his native place, the CM dismissing such a prohibition declared that adequate security cover would be given in both the transportation and burial of the MLA's body in his place of birth.
While conveying his condolence to members of the bereaved family, MPP MLA O Joy termed the objection raised by certain groups as ridiculous and unfortunate.
maintaining that a dead person should be respected and honoured by every individual, Joy asserted that there is no Nagalim in Manipur and that Wungnaoshang had every right that his mortal remains be laid to rest at his ancestral place.
In his comment, Speaker I Hemochandra described Wungnaoshang as a cool, committed and humane individual.
