68 new cases, one more death recorded

Imphal, January 09 2022:
With 68 new COVID-19 cases detected out of 1905 samples tested in the State during the last 24 hours, the number of active cases has reached 469 .
A single COVID-19 death was also reported from Ukhrul district during the last 24 hours.
The victim had co-morbidities and was not vaccinated, as per a press communique from the Covid-19 Common Control Room.
The cumulative death toll is now 2011 .
The 68 positive cases, all from the general population, were reported from Imphal East (25), Imphal West (26), Thoubal (4), Kakching (4), Kangpokpi (1), Senapati (7) and Chandel (1) .
All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, added the press release.
The cumulative positive case in the State has now reached 1,26,156 (1,21,675 from the general population and 4,481 from CAPF).
The daily positivity rate was reported at 3.6 percent against 3.1 percent yesterday.
Kakching with 10.5 percent (4 cases out of 38 samples) and Imphal East with 8.1 percent (25 cases out of 310 samples) reported the highest daily positivity rate amongst the districts.
12 individuals from home isolation (5), JNIMS (1) and CCCs (6) were discharged today.
With these, the recovery rate has further slumped to 98.03 percent from 98.08 percent yesterday.
4503 doses of COVID-19 vaccines were administered on January 8 taking the cumulative doses administered so far to 23,48,089 including 13,40,502 1st dose and 10,07,587 2nd dose.
As per a report from the COVID-19 Common Control Room 57.04 percent of eligible population of the State have been administered the first dose of the vaccine while 43.04 percent have received both the doses.
Kangpokpi with 13.19 percent, Ukhrul with 18.56 percent and Kamjong with 22.71 percent (second dose) continue to be the worst performing districts in administering COVID-19 vaccine while Jiribam (59.15 percent), Imphal West (58.39 percent) and Imphal East (53.86 percent) are the top performing districts.
