NIA Court sentences UNLF leader RK Meghen to 10 years RI

Former UNLF chairman RK Meghen alias Sanayaima along with 17 other members of the banned outfit have been convicted by a Special NIA Court in Guwahati today.
Special Judge of NIA, MK Bhattacharjee delivered the judgement today.
The Court also issued jail warrants against those who are on bail in the same case.
Sanayaima along with nine others have been sentenced to ten years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10 thousand each.
The judgment of the case under Special NIA case number 01/2010 against RK Meghen and 17 others was kept reserved by the Court a few days back.
Sanayaima and 17 others have been facing trial since 2010 under Section 120B, 121, 121(A), 122 of IPC and under Section 16,17, 18, 18A,18B, 20&21 of UA(P) Act 1967.

Sanayaima was convicted under Section 121 A, 18 of UA (P) Act, 18 B of UA (P) Act, Section 20 UA(P) Act and 122 IPC.
Under Section 121 A IPC, Sanayaima along with nine others have been sentenced to ten years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10 thousand each.
They would undergo an additional two years of imprisonment in case they fail to pay the fine.
Under section 18 of UA (P) Act, Sanayaima along with nine others have been sentenced to rigorous imprisonment of eight years and imposed a fine of Rs 10 thousand each.
All of them would face a jail term of one year in case they do not pay the fine.
Under Section 18 B of UA (P) Act, Sanayaima has been sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for seven years and a fine of Rs 20 thousand imposed on him.
Under Section 20 UA (P) Act, he along with all other 17 convicts have been sentenced to rigorous imprisonment of seven years with a fine of Rs 10 thousand each.
They will face jail term of another one year if they fail to pay the fine.
Under Section 122 IPC, the former UNLF chairman has been sentenced to rigorous imprisonment of ten years and a fine of Rs 20 thousand and in default of payment of fine for further two years imprisonment.
The Court order mentioned that all the sentences against RK Sanayaima shall run concurrently.
The order further said that all the seized properties would be confiscated in favour of the State in due course and the period of detention undergone by him during trial would be set off under Section 428 CrPC.
Other members of the outfit who are convicted under the 121 A IPC and 18 of UA (P) Act and who are sentenced to rigorous imprisonment of ten years and a fine of Rs 10 thousand each include S Rakesh, O Samarjit Singh alias Naresh alias Kadeng, W Noren Singh alias Thoiba, K Jeeten Singh alias Khombo alias Dene, S Gune Singh alias Boy alias Wanglen alias Little Boy, M Ibohal Singh alias Ngamba alias Sanjay, N Dilip Singh alias Ibochou alias Mani, L Jatishor Singh alias Tilemba, and UNLF former organization secretary M Joy alias Joyjao alias Nongyai alias Nilachandra.
Those who are convicted under 21 of UA (P) Act for seven years rigorous imprisonment for seven years and a fine of Rs 10 thousand each and in default of payment further imprisonment for one year include N Bomi, Y Brajabidhu and A Ibomcha Singh.
Two others who are convicted under Section 17 of UA (P) Act and sentenced to rigorous imprisonment of seven years and a fine of Rs 10 thousand and in default of one year imprisonment include Ch Bembem Chanu alias Sakhenbi alias Henbi alias Pempem and Mrs Londhoni Devi.
The Court order said that bail bonds of S Rakesh, Mrs Londhoni and M Bomi stand cancelled and jail warrants have to be issued immediately.
All seized properties shall be confiscated in favour of the State in due course and the period of detention undergone by the alleged accused in the case shall be set off under Section 428 CrPC, the order said.
It may be mentioned that Sanayaima was arrested by a team of NIA on September 29, 2010.Since then he has been lodged in NIA custody till today.
All of them have been facing trials since 2010 .
