Quest for change of leadership Amit Shah calls rebels, loyalists to Guwahati

BJP National president and Union Home Minister Amit Shah has called both rebels and loyalists of Chief Minister N Biren including Ministers and MLAs of the coalition Government as well as BJP Manipur Pradesh core committee members to Guwahati on September 9 in order to work out a solution to the protracted power struggle which has been besieging the coalition Government for the past three months or so.
Amit Shah is also scheduled to take part in a meeting of the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) which would be held at Guwahati on September 9 .

Meanwhile, Chief Minister N Biren left Imphal for Guwahati this afternoon to take part in the NEDA meeting.
Rebel MLAs who have been camping at Delhi demanding replacement of Chief Minister N Biren too have started leaving Delhi for Guwahati today at the advice of the Union Home Minister.
Many key issues of the North East region including the law and order situation would be deliberated at the NEDA meeting which would be chaired by Amit Shah.
After the meeting, Amit Shah would talk and elicit opinions and positions of the rebel MLAs who have been demanding replacement of Chief Minister N Biren.
Sources said that the scheduled meeting between Amit Shah and Ministers and MLAs of the State's coalition Government would turn out to be a very crucial one regarding the protracted power struggle besieging the coalition Government.
The scheduled meeting has already assumed great significance as all members of BJP Manipur Pradesh core committee too have been called to Guwahati.
BJP Manipur Pradesh core committee members are Chief Minister N Biren, Works Minister Th Biswajit, BJP Manipur Pradesh president and Rajya Sabha MP K Bhabananda, former presidents Th Chaoba, Dr Haobam Borbabu, Sh Shanti-kumar, ex-MLA Meinam Bhorot, Yanglet Haokip and Sh Premananda.
Many BJP Central leaders would also attend the crucial meeting, said the sources.
BJP National president Amit Shah would talk with Ministers, MLAs and core committee members of BJP Manipur Pradesh regarding whether they support or oppose change of leadership.
He would also elicit opinions of all of them on whether the demand for change of leadership is legitimate or not.
After eliciting opinions and ascertaining positions of Ministers, MLAs and the core committee members, the BJP president is likely to take a final decision after he reaches Delhi.
One core committee member told The Sangai Express that the question of changing or retaining the incumbent leadership may be settled by September 14/15 .
