Students of Pioneer Academy, Palace Compound; Royal Academy of Science, Ningthem Pukhri Mapal and Wangkhei High School, Wangkhei took part in the rally.
The rally began from Pioneer Academy School and marched till City Convention Centre were students clashed with the police.
Meanwhile, students from Temple of Learning (TOL), Imphal Public School (IPS), International School of Resources (ISOR) and Dineshwori Hr Sec School, all from Canchipur area took out a protest rally demanding implementation of a stronger Bill on Inner Line Permit in the State.
Model Higher Secondary School, Takyel also held a rally demanding the same.
Convener of Student Wing JCILPS M Angamba in a press meet held at the office of Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) condemned the alleged police excesses against the student protesters.
He stated that the protest which the Student Wing has been launching for the last many years is to protect and safeguard the rights of indigenous people of Manipur.
The State Government has been betraying the people by passing the Manipur Regulation of Visitors, Tenants and Migrant Workers (MRVTMW) Bill 2015 which does not fulfil the aspirations of the people, he alleged.
The Government has included neither the recommendations of All Political Parties' Committee nor the five-points demand raised by JCILPS in the MRVTMW Bill.
It is more of giving protection to the outsiders or migrant workers.
JCILPS along with the Student Wing had earlier requested the Governor of Manipur not to give assent to the Bill, he asserted.
What all the people of Manipur want is a proper Bill to protect the native people.
He added that the State Government should withdraw the MRVTMW Bill in the ongoing Assembly session and come up with a new Bill which reflects the sentiments and aspirations of the people.
