Cumulative tally of positive cases cross 1 lakh at 100,625
753 new cases, 14 deaths recorded

The 541 new cases recorded on August 2 has turned out to be a blip on the radar with the State returning to the 700 plus daily cases with 753 new cases recorded in the last 24 hours.
With the addition of 753 new cases, the cumulative number of positive cases in the State has crossed the 1 lakh mark with the tally now standing at 100,625 .
The race to the one lakh mark sped up in the months of June and July this year and while it took more than a year for the total to reach the 50,751 mark, it has taken just 64 days to tally 49,874 cases to take the total to 100,625 till date.
From March 24, 2020, the date when Manipur recorded its first positive case, it took a little over a year to reach 50,751 on May 31 this year.
In the months of June, July and the three days of August this year the number added is 49,874 to take the total past the one lakh mark.
The 753 new cases were detected while testing a sample of 5476 to take the daily positivity rate to 13.8 percent.
Along with the addition of 753 new cases, Manipur logged 14 more deaths to take the cumulative number of deaths due to the virus to 1592.The deceased persons belonged to Imphal West (5), Imphal East (5), Bishnupur (2), Ukhrul (1) and Churachandpur (1).Out of the 14 deaths, 9 persons had co-morbidities, said the COVID-19 Common Control Room quoting the State Level COVID-19 Deaths Audit Committee.
And out of the total 14 deceased persons only 5 had received the first dose Of the vaccination shots.
Of the 748 civilians who tested positive in the last 24 hours, 375 were women.
All the 753 including 5 Central security personnel were tested at RIMS (27), JNIMS (82), District Hospitals (463) and other testing centres (181).The positive cases from amongst the civil population are from Imphal East (164), Imphal West (246), Thoubal (46), Bishnupur (68), Kakching (27), Ukhrul (2), Churachandpur (63), Chandel (29), Senapati (38), Tamenglong (13), Tengnoupal (1), Jiribam(l), Noney (1), Pherzawl (8), Kamjong (20) and Kangpokpi (21) .
Precautionary measures including containment and contact tracing are in place, added the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
On the other hand 1,063 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours from home isolation (426), RIMS (28), JNIMS (30), CCCs (231) and CHICs (348).The cumulative number of recovered cases is now 89,543 including 3936 Central security personnel and the recovery rate is now 88.98 percent.
The number of active cases is 9490 including 52 Central security personnel.
On August 2, a total of 13,968 people received their vaccination shots to take the number of vaccinated people to 13,37,526 including 2,19,545 people who have received their second dose.
In the last 24 hours a total of 2266 D Type Oxygen cylinders and 299 B Type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health centres.
