Imphal, November 01 2011:
Taking strong exception against the MoU signed between the State Government and the Sadar Hills Districthood Demand Committee, the United Naga Council has decided to enforce a 3 day total bandh with effect from midnight of November 3 till November 6 .
This decision was taken during an emergency meeting convened by the UNC and attended by other frontal organizations today.
The blockade imposed by the UNC since August 21 to counter the one imposed by the Sadar Hills Districthood Demand Committee is still on.
UNC said that it strongly condemns the manner in which the GoM had executed the agreement without the consensus and consent of the Nagas, notwithstanding the four MoUs signed with Naga people and the sustained public protest against the manner in which the GoM has been handling the issue.
"The action of the GoM is highly condemnable and is a divisive scheme to incite communal conflicts and is in total violation of the understanding already reached with the Naga People", it said.

The unmandated Naga district councillors and the Naga representatives are a party to this great 'sell-out' of the rights of the people and will be answerable to the Naga people.
The total bandh would cover all Government offices, educational institutions, movement of all types of private and commercial vehicles including the construction work of the JiribamTupulImphal railway line and the BRTF manning highways in the Naga areas.
It has also been decided that the ongoing economic blockade will continue until further notice.
Any individual/department/organisation who violates this total bandh will be responsible for any untoward incident.
Further the UNC and ANSAM have directed all constituent units and frontal organizations for effective enforcement in their respective jurisdiction, it conveyed.
"The Naga public and all Naga organizations are hereby informed to be prepared for any eventuality and continued democratic protest activities for protection of our land", it added.
