Porous sections of Indo-Myanmar border sealed

In an bid to prevent unchecked movement of people along the Indo-Myanmar border in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, intensive works are underway to seal off any possible entry points which people can use to move between the two countries.
Spaces/entry points were sealed at five locations between Border Pillar No 78 and 79 today by a team comprising of SP Tengnoupal Th Vikramjit, ASP (Ops) Tengnoupal Th Krishnatombi, other police officials, top officers of Manipur Rifles and BRTF personnel.

Likewise, stepping up its effort to fight COVID-19, the Churachandpur district administration has today erected at least three new fences on the roads that connect the district with neighboring Myanmar in an attempt to completely seal movement along the international boundary.
A team of Behiang PS along with the SDO Singngat constructed a second fence on a road con- necting Suangphu village (India) and Khuaivum village (Myanmar) .
The villages are located about 6.5 kms from Behiang village, police sources said.
The SDO Sungdoh along with a team led by OC Singngat PS also sealed entry points at pillar no 36 located at Sungdai village.
They were assisted by the 2 AR company commander from Sungdai post and his men, add the source.
Meanwhile a statement issued by the DIO Churachandpur also quoted the Deputy Commissioner Churachandpur Pawan Yadav as saying that besides the two locations, BP 41 located at Suangphuh was also sealed.
The statement further claimed that all these locations have motorable roads.
It also said that the CEO, ADC Churachandpur Lalthazam convened a meeting with all major traders in the district to inform the distribution mechanism devised by the district administration and to give instructions for strict adherence.
