4 more succumb, Sajiwa Jail new hotspot with 34 positive cases

Imphal, October 31 2020:
Four more COVID-19 positive people succumbed to the virus during the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 168 .
On the other hand, 34 inmates of Sajiwa Central Jail have been tested positive for the contagion.
Yet, the recovery rate has improved to 80.32 per cent.
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, two men and two women died at RIMS and JNIMS during the last 24 hours.
All four of them were COVID-19 positive.
The two male victims aged 65 and 72 belonged to Thoubal and Imphal West districts.
The two women aged 43 and 78 were residents of Tamenglong and Imphal East districts.
In the meantime, 230 people including 13 personnel of CAPF were tested positive for the virus at RIMS, JNIMS, Imphal East, Maipakpi Hospital, Mothers Care, Raj Medicity, Shija Hospital, Public Hospital, CMC, Jivan Hospital, Advance Hospital, RD Wing, Christian Hospital, Kang-pokpi, Ukhrul, Bishnu-pur, Thoubal, Senapati, Chandel, Jiribam, Churachandpur, Tengnoupal, Tamenglong, Noney, Kakching and Babina Diagnostics.
The 217 civilians who have been tested positive are residents of Imphal West (80), Imphal East (31), Thoubal (10), Tengnoupal (2), Kangpokpi (2), Noney (7), Kamjong (13), Ukhrul (5), Bishnupur (8), Kakching (7), Senapati (3), Churachandpur (15), Tamenglong (31), Jiribam (1) and Chandel (2) .
All these civilians are locals without any significant travel history.
Meanwhile, a record 1057 COVID-19 positive people were discharged during the last 24 hours from CAPF (4), home isolation (939), JNIMS (22), RIMS (2), CCC Lamboi Khong-nangkhong (15), CCC UNACCO (13), Kakching (2), Kangpokpi (4), Tamenglong (11), Ukhrul (1), Chandel (4), Lamding (16), RD Wing (2), Moreh (1), Bishnupur (4), Kasom Khullen (2), Thoubal (12) and Bal Bhavan (3) .
The figure for people discharged from home isolation is inclusive of backlog report from Imphal East and Imphal West for the period October 10 to October 30 .
The cumulative figure of COVID-19 positive cases in the State now stands at 18,502 (general population 15743, Central security personnel 2759) .
It includes 3472 active cases (general population 3159, Central security personnel 313) and 14862 discharged cases (general population 12420, Central security personnel 2442) .
Meanwhile, Health Department has taken up necessary measures to accommodate and treat all the COVID-19 positive inmates of Sajiwa Jail at a COVID Care Centre located near the jail.
A late report informed that 69 samples were found positive out of 206 tested today at JNIMS.
Of the 69 positive people, 64 belong to Imphal East.
At Imphal West, 105 people were found positive today.
They include five residents of Sagolband Sapam Leirak, four of Tera Bazar, 12 of Sagolband Meino Leirak, four of Paona Keithel (HDFC), six of Mayang Langjing Tamang and six of Chingabam Leikai.
Out of 93 samples subjected to Rapid Antigen Test at Thoubal today, 10 were found infected by the virus.
