Sharatchandra Amasung Magi Sahitya |
A collection of articles on Sharatchandra Chatterjee written by 30 writers, translated from Bengali into Manipuri by L. Raghumani Sharma, Price Rs 70/-, Page 172. Reviewed by: Konsam Kulladhwaja |
The writers include among others Rabindranath Tagore, Subash Chandra Bose, Radharani Devi etc. Raghumani's own articles in Manipuri are also featured. One prose entitled Sahitya Samrat Sharatchandra written by the author flashes at first in which some critics like N Kunjamohan does not espouse to prefix Sahitya Samrat to Sharatchandra. Inspite of Sahitya Samrat, they would like to call Sharatchandra as Kathasilpi. The prose reflects the literary career of the life of Sharatchandra Chatterjee. In another article entitled Lairik Mashak Takpa Shri Ragumani reviews Sharatchandra's 37 books. He quotes some lines on Sharatchandra written by Rabindrannath Tagore, "... the latest of the leaders who through this path of liberation, has guided Bengali novels nearer to the spirit of modern world literature is Sharatchandra Chatterjee... he has achieved the best reward of novelist; he has completely won the hearts of Bengali readers”. |
