For the contribution of this book Netrajit was conferred the prestigious Thokchom Jogendra Memorial Gold Medal by the Naharol Sahitya Premi Samiti, Imphal this year. Netrajit has to his credit four books. He writes poetry and short stories. Though he is a disabled boy his talent of writing poetry is very high. This book reflects the poet's discontented look at the abysmal Manipuri social atmosphere mantled with gun culture. Security personnel snatch young boys from the mother's laps charging that the boys are ultras. Thus they harass the boys severely and even kill in cold blood. This is the fate of the hundreds of Manipuri young boys. The poet depicts the sorrowful condition of a mother who loses her son in such a case in the little poem. In another poem entitled Meigi Ching the poet also depicts the carnage in which the armed security personnel kill the underground activists without any sympathy. Even though they surrender by raising hands the police shoot and kill them which is against the international law and the human right's act. When such incidents happen frequently the poet feels angry. Thus his voice is released, |
