This book features 105 limericks, 20 sonnets and 24 modern poems. Raghubir's sonnets reflect the social realities arising from ontological situations. There is a serious tone in his sonnets consisting of 14 lines which have ten syllables each. But I find a line consisting of eleven syllables in the sonnet Potloi. The sonnet entitled Bhootki Lamdam is the objective co-relative of the present Manipuri society which is in the condition of the upside down. Another sonnet entitled Raktapur reflects the present situation of Manipur. The present Manipur is not Manipur but Khunipur or Raktapur. Dhrubatara, the pole star, is nothing or nobody but Irabot, the only patriot of Manipur. The real spirit of Jananeta Irabot was not known by the people in the past but today our generation realizes him and awaits him to come again for making a new Manipur. This is the idea reflected in the sonnet entitled Dhrubatara. The initial sounds of all the words in Raghubir's limericks are equal to one another. See the limerick entitled Thanungi Tha, |
