‘Those with the right skills will be future ready’, says Mr. Vislawath

The founder of Marut Drones – India’s leading drone manufacturer – Mr. PremKumar Vislawath, also an alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG), was part of the Youth20 (Y20) Inception Meeting as an esteemed panelist at the three-day event. Hosted by the Government of India Y20 at IITG between 6-8 February aimed to provide the youth a platform to raise their concerns on issues faced in the modern world, contribute vision and ideas towards the policy-making process of the G20 leaders through policy recommendations, and lay the groundwork for programmes of Y20 during India's G20 Presidency.

Mr. Prem Kumar Vislawath spoke on ‘Future of Work: Industry 4.0 Innovation and 21st Century Skills’ at the event. Mr. Vislawath spokes on the mechanisms that can be put to control unfair competition, unfair trade, price and workforce and the measure to emerge from work crisis. He said, “Despite a decrease in the workforce due to AI automation, those with the right skills can take more challenging roles and be future-ready.”

He also discussed the G20’s view on global economic crisis as a result of war between Ukraine and Russia, how chatgpt will take up work from industries, the role of AI-ML in layoffs and the need to reskill the workforce. He also laid an emphasis on to bring about policies to stop brain drain.

This is the first Y20 summit in Guwahati. The summit has got over 300 delegates including 20 foreigners from member countries attending the three-day summit, according to Union Youth Affairs & Sports Ministry Secretary Meeta Rajivlochan. The Y20 is the official youth engagement group of G20, comprising delegates from all G20 member states. India assumed the G20 Presidency on 1st December, 2022.

As the host of the G20 Presidency for 2023, India has the historic opportunity to set the agenda and drive discussions on key global issues. The final day of the event was also graced by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma.

An ice-breaking session with stellar panel discussion sessions and cultural programmes were part of the event. Panel discussions were held on themes such as ‘Peace building and reconciliation: Ushering in an era of no war’; ‘Future of work Industry 4.0; Innovation and 21st Century Skills’; ‘Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction: Sustainability a way of life’; ‘Shared Future; Youth in Democracy and Governance’; ‘Health, Wellbeing and Sports; Agenda for Youth’ were the hallmarks of the event.

The event also showcased exhibit stalls, a ‘Youth dialogue with Youth Minister’ session followed by concluding Y20 Secretariat session. The final day of the event also witnessed a White Paper Launch with welcome remarks by the Chief Secretary of Assam Shri Paban Kr. Borthakur.

Mr. Prem Kumar Vislawath’s participation as a panelist at Y20 comes at a time when just recently his startup Marut Drones received the Type Certification approvals from the Director General of Civil Aviation for their extensively tested and robustly designed multi-utility agricultural drone AG 365. AG 365 has been designed and developed for Indian conditions and can for multiple purposes giving a higher ROI to the user. Marut Drones have been accorded RPTO approvals which enables training and capacity building of drone pilots focussed on safe agriculture operations, repair and maintenance.
