About workshop
Background :
The impact of information and Communication Technology in developing countries and the creation of global knowledge networks and in particular, focuses on the application and effect of this technology and these networks in the lives of poor communities, produce growers and creators of local crafts. Various information technology projects are examined, from implementation to application, and the effects that such projects have on sustainable development within those communities. Problems affecting implementation are identified as well as potential business opportunities. The impact of information technology on sustainable development cannot, however, be examined without also considering the influence of primary factors such as the incapacity of government, the economy, the infrastructure and the education systems of many developing countries.
There are many challenges in the area of sustainable development: how people's lives can be improved: conservation of natural resources: addressing the need for food, water, sanitation, energy, shelter, health service and economic security by a growing world population. Sustainable development is a process in which economics, finance, trade, energy, agriculture, industry and all other polities are so designed as to bring about development that is economically, socially and environmentally sustainable. Society can be defined as "a community, nation, or broad grouping of people having common traditions, institutions, and collective activities and interests.
It shows how the technological developments which have occurred in information technology have influenced a "broad grouping of people" in their "common traditions, institutions and/or collective activities". This broad grouping of people will primarily be those in the industrialised world of where "information technology" is commonly available.
Context : Technology has come a long way in it's day. Once thought that the world would need only a hand full of computers has turned out to each family having a hand full of computers Four aspects of life and society that have been greatly affected is communications and the way we communicate, business, school and the automotive industry. Technology has certainly changed the way we live. It has impacted the different facts of life and redefined living. Undoubtedly, technology' plays an important role in every sphere of life. The present workshop will be useful for those who are interested in doing research on the impact of technology on the sustainable Society. It would
also be helpful to the researchers to understand the development of rural society through technology. Today, computer education is a part of school and college curricula.
Considering the wide range of applications of the computer technology, it is necessary for each one of us to be computer friendly . Considering the advantages of the Internet technology, it is important for each of us to gain a basic knowledge of internet access and connectivity. We live in a technology-age and hence, it is extremely important for us to introduce ourselves to the new inventions and discoveries that have made a difference to our daily life. The importance of science and technology in education cannot be stressed enough. The introduction of technology in the educational field has made the process of learning and knowledge sharing, interactive and fun-filled activity.
Technology is indeed one of God's greatest gifts to mankind. The present national workshop would open new directions in the field of technology and its effects on the sustainable growth in the modern society.
Objectives of workshop :
The primary objective of this workshop is to track the technological developmental trends and their impacts on
current and future society.
The specific objectives of the programme are:
1. To bring together social researchers for critical discussion and network creation for research on Technology and Society.
2. To review the technological trends and their impact on current society in India.
3. To forecast the future impact of technological change on Indian society
4. To give input to technology sector for socially sustainable development

Expected Outcome of the Workshop :
The workshop will provide an opportunity for the young social scientists to exchange and share their experiences as social practitioners. More importantly, the workshop may be a platform to mobilize themselves and to put their scientific knowledge into actual social practice. The present workshop will be useful for those who are interested in doing research on the impact of technology on the sustainable Society. It would also be helpful to the researchers to understand the development of rural society through technology. Target Groups : Young social scientists across the country working in the area of the Technology and Society.
