World No Tobacco Day observed
NHPC-Loktak Power Station observed “World No Tobacco Day” today i.e. on 31.05.2019 at office of Chief General Manager, Loktak Power Station (LPS). Shri Aloke Kumar Ghosh, Chief General Manager, LPS administered pledge to sensitize officials about harmful effects of tobacco consumption.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Aloke Kumar Ghosh said that tobacco is the single greatest preventable cause of death in the world today which kills more than one million Indians every year.
Adding that tobacco causes more death than HIV, AIDS, Diarrhea, dysentery, malnutrition and road traffic accidents combined globally. He appealed to all employees to strive to make power station premises “Tobacco Free Zone”
