Workshop on implementation of POCSO Act in Manipur

Sub: State Level Workshop on implementation of POCSO Act, 2012 and JJ Act, 2015 in Manipur on 18th February, 2016 at Classic Grande, Imphal.
As per census of India 2011, children below the age of 18 years are approximately 46.38 crores. These children are facing different forms of Violence and Abuses. Over 53 percent of the children surveyed in 2007, stated that they had experienced one or more form of sexual abuse during their childhood. Therefore, the need for timely care and protection of these children is necessary.
The data collected by the Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) shows that there is an increased cases of Sexual Offences against Children and Children in Conflict with Law in the State. A large number of such cases remain unreported due to social stigmatization, character assassination of the victim children and various other reasons. Therefore, safety of children and effective implementation of the POCSO Act and JJ Act is a serious concern.
National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) and Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) have decided to hold a State Level Workshop on POCSO Act, 2012 and JJ Act, 2015 at the Conference Hall of Classic Grande, Imphal on 18th February, 2016 at 9:00 AM to discuss and sensitize on these 2 (Two) Acts to all the related departments.
As per directive of the National Commission, the participants levels would be Chief Secretary, DGP, Secretaries and Directors of Social Welfare, School Education, Hr Education, Health & Family Welfare, Labour, Law Department, District Magistrates, Judges of POCSO Act, Magistrate of JJB, Superintendent of Police, Members of Child Welfare Committee, District Social Welfare Officers, District Programme Officers, District Child Protection Officers, Chief Medical Officers of Districts, Medical Officers of JNIMS and RIMS, Zonal Education Officers etc. Stuti Kacker (Rtd. IAS) (Chairperson, National Commission), Jashwant Jain (Member, National Commission), Joint Secretary (Ministry of Women and Child, New Delhi) and Arun Mathur (Rtd. IAS) (Chairperson, Delhi Commission) will attend the function.
The Honble Minister Km. AK. Mirabai (SW), Manipur, Mr. Justice N. Kotiswar, Manipur High Court, Ms. Stuti Kacker Chairperson, NCPCR, Shri. Yashwant Jain Member, NCPCR, Shri. Arun Mathur Chairperson, Delhi, SCPCR, Shri. L.M. Khaute D.G.P. Manipur, Shri. S.K. Dev Verman Principal Secretary, SW, Manipur, Shri O. Nabakishore Chief Secretary, Manipur will grace the function as the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and President respectively.
