GENDER, TRANSVERSAL POLITICS AND INTERSECTIONALITY: A WORKSHOP ON NEW METHODS IN FEMINIST RESEARCH

Inter University Centre for Social Science Research and Extension (IUCSSRE), Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala in collaboration with Indian Association of Women Studies (IAWS) and Council for Social Development (CSD), Hyderabad, is organizing a five day workshop on Feminist Research Methodology from 2nd - 6th September 2013. This year the workshop will interrogate the concept of intersectionality from a multidisciplinary perspective.
The concept has radically changed the way diversity and difference among women was conceived, and also in developing new approaches in understanding inequality and complex dynamics of oppression and privilege, in theorizing identity, and individual experiences. This workshop seeks to explore, discuss the concept intersectionality and transversal politics. We invite scholars who are working on the intersection of Gender with caste, class, tribe, sexuality, disability, ethnicity, location and any other defining categories.
M.Phil/ PhD Students who are doing research in any of these areas are welcome to apply.

and synopsis of the research topic in 1000 words

Last date for submission of proposal, along with a bio-data is 5th August, 2013.
Selected participants will be intimated by 10th August. Selected candidates will be required to submit a detailed working draft by August 20th. This will be pre-circulated among the experts.
