Who am I
- Deep from the Soul -
K. Padmakumar *
Before I die I'd like to know this, only this
Who am I?
What I was born for?
I was born on 3 February 1934.
When will I die I do not know.
Do we mourn death
Or thank, with pleasure.
Rabindranath, the poet sings
The child cries out when from the right breast
the mother takes it away,
in the very next moment
to find in the left one its consolation.
My heart
One moment, my heart aches
The next, my heart sings
Why, yes, why it is so!
Who I am
I'd like to know this, only this.
What was not seen is appreciated now
What was not known is knowledgeable now
What was wonderful is no longer wonderful;
That I am
Is still an eternal wonder.
My appearance
My wife
It is no accident
It's my doing, It's my doing
It's my doing, It's my doing.
Who am I
Seen but not recognised;
A man!
Ah me!
(Translated from my late father's Ei Kanano by K. Radhakumar)
