When the Twilight Finally Arrives-1
K. Padmakumar *
Mother! Now I am in my twilight years
I'd love to see your face
And I'd like to hear your voice.
I saw you one day in the marketplace
In the dim glow of burning pinewood
And you were earning your crust.
After having my fill at least once
Of the sweet nectar of mother's breast milk
Let me be content as if I know
The meaning of this piece of a dream.
(Translated from his late father's Manipuri poems – '1' Yachangba Matam Laklabada by K. Radhakumar.)
