What I worry
Bijayata Akham *
In the company
Of the little lovely girl
I forgot the world sometimes.
My love of her sometimes carried me
to the places of fantasy
in the sky and on land.
I was annoyed when I didn't see her,
happy when she came to me,
refreshed on seeing her dance before TV
to the tune of a song or music.
My mind flew
down the lane of memory,
through the pages of comic books,
through the books of folktales,
to collect tales of her interest.
Some of the pictures she drew,
some of the questions she put to me
made me laugh.
But sometimes I fumbled for answer
To some of her questions.
How she gives me strength !
When tired facing the adversaries in life .
But one question makes me worry,
" whether the world can be freed
from crimes and exploitation against woman.
Can little ones inherit a peaceful world
when they grow up? "
