'Wetlands of Manipur' : Documentary Film Released

Chief Minister releases film on Wetlands of Manipur
The Chief Minister of Manipur Shri N. Biren Singh released a 20 minute documentary film on 8th May, 2020 on
'Wetlands of Manipur'
produced by Forest Department, Manipur
under Nature Learning Centre,
National Mission on Himalayan Studies,
Ministry of Environment,
Forests & Climate Change,
Government of India.
The film was released in presence of
Dr. Suhel Akhtar. Addl. Chief Secretary,
Shri Kereilhouvi Angami, PCCF & HoFF,
Shri Anurag Bajpal, Addl PCCF and
Ms. Waikhom Romabai, DCF/ Research,
Silviculture & Training Division,
Government of Manipur.
The film focussed on the major wetlands of Manipur both in hills and valley region namely,
Loktak,
Zalmeng,
Zeilad,
Pumlen,
lkop,
Waithou,
Lamjao,
Karung Pat,
Yaral Pat, etc.
It also highlighted the present conditions of the wetland, role played by the wetlands in maintaining the ecosystem equilibrium and supporting
livelihood, bio-diversity and threats being faced by the wetlands.
The film also emphasized the socio-cultural relationship of wetlands with the Manipuri society.
