North-East India’s first experience-based social enterprise launches today ( www.wandernagaland.com ), making it easy for travellers all over the world to access authentic cultural experiences and virgin natural landscapes in Nagaland. An initiative of Kevisato Sanyü, who earlier this year founded Naga Homestay ( www.nagahomestay.com ), it aims at enabling people the world over to see Nagaland and experience Naga culture. The enterprise invites people from neighbouring states such as Meghalaya, Manipur and Assam to find out first hand why the world is so fascinated with Nagaland.
Niketu Iralu, Peace Activist and Elder at Wander Nagaland says, “The Nagas and the world have met only recently. You will learn this from their history. Enjoy their friendliness and their hospitality. They are watching you coming from distant lands to see them and how they live.”
On the launch of the enterprise, Kevisato Sanyü says that “Wander Nagaland is supporting everyday locals to generate livelihoods by organising treks, day trips, cooking classes hosted by locals” and further affirms that “Booking your travel with Wander Nagaland is a great way to experience Nagaland and travel responsibly.”
The enterprise supports locals to generate livelihoods by leveraging off their talents such as teaching a traveller to cook a traditional meal, imparting the art of weaving traditional baskets or attires, sharing folk tales or folk songs. Wander Nagaland makes it possible for people to get the most out of their visit to the famed Hornbill Festival coming this December.
With Nagaland’s incredibly hospitable nature deeply ingrained in its cultural and social fabric, and its sense of kinship within the Naga community often extended to visitors in various forms, Nagaland transports visitors into a simpler way of living, and immediately makes them feel part of it. This is where Wander Nagaland comes in as a tour agency for adventurous travellers who wish to be pioneers to a new destinations, and offers experiences that provide a once in a lifetime travel opportunity to explore the remote places within Nagaland and the surrounding regions.
