Various Teaching Post at Nagaland University

Applications on prescribed format are invited from the eligible candidates for the various teaching posts under various Schools of Nagaland University as indicated below:-

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION

(1) PROFESSOR:- ( OTHER THAN SCHOOL OF ENGG./ SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT/ SCHOOL OF AGRICULTURE).
(i) An eminent scholar with Ph.D. qualification(s) in the concerned/ allied/relevant discipline and published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with a minimum of ten publications as books and or research/policy papers.
(ii) A minimum of ten years of teaching experience in University/college or experience in research at the University/National level institutions/industries, including experience of guiding candidates for research at doctoral level.
(iii) Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology mediated teaching learning process.
(iv) A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator(API base Performance Based Appraisal System(PBAS) developed by UGC in these Regulations. or

(v) An outstanding professional with established reputation in the relevant field, who has made significant contributions to the knowledge in the concerned allied/relevant discipline, to be substantiated by credentials.

(2) ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR:- (OTHER THAN SCHOOL OF ENGG./ SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT/ SCHOOL OF AGRICULTURE)

(i) Good academic record with a Ph.D. Degree in the concerned allied/relevant disciplines.
(ii) A Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed)
(iii) A minimum of eight years experience of teaching and or research in an academic/research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, college or Accredited Research Institution/Industry excluding the period of Ph.D. research with evidence of published work and a minimum of five publications as books and or research/policy papers.
(iv) Contribution to education innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology mediated teaching learning process with evidence of having guided doctoral candidates and research students.
(v) A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS), developed by UGC in these Regulations.

(3) ASSISTANT PROFESSOR:- ( OTHER THAN SCHOOL OF ENGG./ SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT/ SCHOOL OF AGRICULTURE):

(i) Good academic record as defined by the concerned university with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the Master’s Degree level in a relevant subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
(ii) Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET.
(iii) Holders of Ph.D. Degree as on the date of Notification of these Regulation, along with those candidates who are awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./PhD. Degree), Regulations, 2009, and so adopted by the University, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/Institutions.
(iv) NET/SLET/SET shall also not be required for such Masters Programmes in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted.

SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY & SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT

(i) PROFESSOR:- Ph.D. Degree with first class degree at Bachelor’s or Master’s level in the appropriate branch of Engineering /Management /Technology with 10 years experience in Teaching/Industry/Research out of which 5 years be at the level of Assistant Professor and /or equivalent.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE FOR CANDIDATE FROM INDUSTRY AND PROFESSION:-

Candidates from Industry/ Profession with Master’s degree in Engineering/Management/ Technology and with professional work which is significant and can be recognized as equivalent to Ph.D. degree and with 10 years experience of which at least 5 years should be a Senior level comparable to that of an Assistant Professor would also be eligible. l Unanimously declared equivalent to Ph.D. by a 3- member expert committee, duly appointed by affiliating University.

(ii) ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR:- Ph.D. degree with first class degree at bachelor’s or Master’s levelling theappropriate branch of Engineering/Management/Technology with 2 years experience in Teaching/Industry/ Research at the level of Lecturer or equivalent.
or
First class at master’s degree level in the appropriate branch of Engineering/Management /Technology with 5 years experience in Teaching/Industry/Research at the level of Lecturer of equivalent. Such candidates will be required to obtain Ph.D. degree within a period of 7 years from the date of appointment as Assistant Professor. In the case of Universities/University departments and the institutions offering PG programmes/Research, Ph.D. is a must. For candidate from Industry, Professional experience in R&D and patents would be desirable requirement failing which the increments will be stopped until Ph.D. earned.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE FOR CANDIDATE FROM INDUSTRY & PROFESSION:-

Candidates from Industry/ Profession with First Class Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate branch of Engineering/Management/ Technology or First Class Master’s Degree in the appropriate branch of Engineering/Management/Technology. Professional work, which is significant and can be recognized as equivalent to Ph.D. degree and with 2 years experience at a position equivalent to lecturer level would also be eligible. l Unanimously declared equivalent to Ph.D. by a 3-member expert committee, duly appointed by affiliating University.

(iii) ASSISTANT PROFESSOR:- First Class Master’s Degree in the appropriate branch of Engineering (Engg) /Management/Technology (no minimum experience required) or
First Class Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate branch of Engineering/Management /Technology or equivalent, valid GATE score, minimum 75 percent to complete Tech/M.E. within 5 years failing which the increments will be stopped until the post Graduate degree is earned. The institutions to provide adequate opportunity to its teaching staff to complete this requirement.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE FOR CANDIDATE FROM INDUSTRY & PROFESSION:-

Candidates from Industry/ Profession with first class Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate branch of Engineering /Management/ Technology for First Class Master’s Degree in the appropriate branch of Engineering/Management/Technology.

QUALIFICATION FOR CANDIDATE FROM SCHOOL OF AGRICULTURAL TECHNOLOGY:-

Ph.D. Degree with first class degree at B.Sc(Ag), B. Tech.(Ag), or M.Sc(Ag) level in the appropriate branch in Agricultural Engineering Technology.

GENERAL INFORMATION/INSTRUCTION TO THE CANDIDATES

1. Duly filled in application form must be accompanied with a counter foiled of Rs.200/-for General Category and Rs. 150/- for SC/ST/OBC Category deposited at Nagaland University Account No. 30351467507 payable at the SBI, Lumami Branch (Code No.13380).
2. Application fees once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances.
3. Detail Bio-data including Mark Sheet from Matriculation onwards in support of their academic qualifications, teaching and research experience, E-mail ID, Telephone No, Fax No, attested copies of relevant documents, Schedule Cast/Schedule Tribe/OBC Certificates & three recent passport photograph should reach the Registrar, Nagaland University, Headquarters: Lumami on or before 15th Feb. 2012 by registered or speed post only.
4. Original documents should not be sent along with the application but these must be produced at the time of interview.
5. No correspondence will be entertained for the candidates regarding postal delays, conduct and result of the interview.
6. No interim correspondence shall be entertained & canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.
7. Separate applications for each post is required to be submitted and the post applied should be mentioned on the top of the envelope.
8. A self address envelope must be accompanied along with the application.
9. The candidates employed are required to submit their applications through proper channel. However, advance copy may be submitted.
10. The University shall have the right to restrict the number candidates for interview on the basis of qualifications and experience who posses higher than the minimum prescribed or by any other condition that may deem fit.
11. The University, after considering the applicants for the post applied for may, if it is of the opinion that he/she will be suitable choice for the next lower post, may make such offer.
12. Application after the last date, incomplete in any respect and any fresh papers/enclosures after closing the date, shall not be considered.
13. University shall verify the antecedents or documents submitted by a candidates at any time at the time of appointment or during the tenure of the service. In case, it is detected that the documents submitted by the candidates are fake or the candidates has a clandestine antecedents/background and has suppressed the said information, then his/her service shall be terminated.
14. In case of any inadvertent mistake in the process of selection which may be detected at any stage even after the issue of appointment letter, the University reserves the right to modify/ withdraw/cancel any appointment made to the candidates.
15. In case of any dispute/ambiguity that may occur in the process of Selection, the decision of the University shall be final.
16. The minimum requirement of 55% marks shall not be insisted upon for Professors and Associate Professors for the existing incumbents who are already in the University system. However, these marks should be insisted upon for those entering the system from outside & those at the entry point of Assistant Professors.
17. Relaxation of 5% marks from 55% to 50% will be provided at the Master’s Degree level in the case of SC/ST/OBC candidates & 5% relaxation at Graduate Level to the physically handicapped candidates.
18. Candidates claiming relaxation under reservation should submit certificate of proof and should clearly indicate in their application as “Reserved Category”
19. If any candidate is recommended for appointment by relaxing any of the prescribed conditions relating to age, experience etc, shall be so stated and recorded.
20. Candidates coming from outside Nagaland for attending the interview shall be paid AC-III Tier Class Railway/Bus fare by shortest route subject to production of proper tickets.
21. Short listed candidates will be called for an interview.
22. Number of posts advertised may be treated as tentative. The University reserves the right to increase/decrease the number of posts.
23.The Selection Committee may decide its own method of evaluating the performance of the candidates in interview.
24.The rules of UGC/Govt. of India in regard to Pay and Allowances, Leave, Pension & Provident Fund shall be followed subject to amendments if any, from time to time. New entrants shall be covered by New Pension Scheme.
25. Applications received late or without necessary supporting documents, Degree/Certificate/Mark sheets and experience certificate not attested by the Head of the Deptt./Institution/Gazetted Officer or not accompanied by full prescribed fee shall be rejected summarily.
26. Allowances shall be provided as applicable for North East Region as per the Govt. of India Policy.
27. Residential accommodation, available at Nagaland University, Hqs: Lumami.
28. UGC Guidelines/UGC Norms & other General Instruction wherever applicable may be downloaded from UGC website www.ugc.ac.in.

30. The University reserves the right to fill up and not to fill up any post and also to alter the number of vacancies if the circumstances so warranted.
