An Unwanted Experience provided by the serial killing
By huidath123 *
The recent killings, I would love to say the serial killings by serial killers throw a bulk of questions to my mind but the serial killers
are the only who can answer it. Or only they can give their own justification of the heinous crime against human beings.
Or they can also put up a theory which will never be able to proof. Or philisophy of self style philosopher's thoughts that this universe will not accecpt.
Yes, I know there is no sense of calling the killers even as an insurgent group, or millitants.
The word "serial killers"is the most appropritate to describe them. I am not sure that the killers are born in and grown up in Manipur but it is the fact that the
crime was happened in the soil of Manipur. Every human beings should condemn it irrespective of caste, relegion or ethinic group.
This much I can proudly say, that, there is no such narrow minded peoples in the soil of Manipur who fight or killed people based on their religion, caste or ethnic
lines like in other parts of the world. Yes, there were some incidents incited by a few gangs to divide the unity or oneness of being Manipuri on various lines
but failed.
The immemorial history of inter-dependent and co existance among the people residing in different parts of the state always bonded everyone. Many attempts were made
to disturb the social harmony of the society at various levels, and I think this time the serial killers target is much horrifying.
I cannot imagine what may be the real pictures if the sense of revenge provoked the other groups i.e. the victims' party. There is no doubt that all the deceased
were innocent, they were killed cold blooded and it is the continuation of the killings of the innocent peoples and another clear example of human rights violation that
are happening in this small hillock region.
Yes some statistics data shows that the number of migrants worker are increasing in the region and it is also very clear that the same data is also available
for the number of students or workers who are migrated and studying in other parts of India.
Many youngsters left the region, parents prefered to continue their childrens further studies outside the state. What the serial killers target was a message to those
who left the region for returning back ?
What can we provide the adequate facilities to the students, can we provide the jobs to the youngsters who are working outside the state. A big no for the
time being, and I cannot imagine it can be done in the coming few decades, till then we have to fly away and work hard to maintain and keep mentally and
economically survive.
No doubt the system of governance may compelled the current situation. My personal experiences after the incidents: there is an unusual state of mind, sometimes
feel ashamed of being Manipuri, even though my profession is among the broad mindset kind with no party or group, but when the news was flash in a
news wire service and then to a news channel, my first reaction was I tried to switch to another channel of the Television in front of me, then I look around
into my news room, everybody were busy in their own duties as usual but I feel as if they are looking towards me, really I feel so shame on that moment.
None of them made any personal comment to me on the incidents but I feel guilty to myself and explain to them, whatever happening in the region are unwanted things
and it is condemnable, there is no justification for killing innocent citizens. They all listen to me and try to understand my feelings and finally they ask me
" what will they killed us, if we go there to attend your marriage ceremony" that might be a simple but eternal joke to them at that time, I cannot give any assurance to them, what I said was....no friends they won't harm you, they never harm to civillians.
Oh ! in the very next moment I realised that my statement was absolutely baseless, what about those 15 souls? Even though they didn't react instantly, I know
what they may felt. In the meantime I recieved calls from various parts of India asking me to confirm if any Manipuri students were killed in Delhi, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Pune, Jaipur.
Believe me I received atleast seven calls of same question but different area within a span of three hours. The first call was from my mother asking me to take care, and finally asking the same question ...is there any such incidents in Delhi. Its obvious my mother might be very worried and its not only my mother, all the mothers
in Manipur were very worried and unrest.
My second call was from a close friend who was in Silchar at that time. He was supposed to go upto Airport by taxi from his residence to catch a flight. He throws me a
big responsible: - do confirm that two Manipuri were killed near Dam Dam at Kolkata. I said no, there is no such reports so far but he insisted me saying
"I am going alone by taxi upto Airport ". Oh I had to call up the Resident Commisioner of Kolkata Manipur Bhawan at the odd hour, he firmly replied me , no, there is no such incidents, I also recieved various calls please help me to block such kind of rumors.
Its all about my experiences during few days away from my native state, I am sure many other friends who are staying in other parts of the India may had experiences of another kind. I pray, oh God! Please dont bring me such experiences in my life again.
