Untitled Poem
Guneshwor Khomdram *
I see a shooting star
And lo! I wish a wish.
A petty habit of mine,
A human weakness I call it.
And to ask, doing so -
Have I thrown myself in
Between the twin hazards of
A Skylla of a prick-tormented mind and
A Charybdis of a pang-afflicted heart -
Seems uselessly unprofitable to analyse.
Only, if I could stop wishing wishes ...!
But deep in my heart, I know
Dozens of them wait in line
Ready to be born and die in a second ...
