Skeleton remains of at least 8 persons were discovered at construction site at Tombisana High School on 26 Dec 2014 :: Pix - Deepak OInam
The longer it is kept pending the more suspicion it will raise.
And this is exactly what has been happening ever since eight human skulls and skeletal remains were discovered from the campus of the erstwhile Tombisana High School.
Remember the human skulls and skeletal remains were discovered on December 25 while the campus of the erstwhile school was dug up for the construction of a market place and it is now nearly one month since the startling discovery.
If such a case had happened in any other State or parts of the country, a hue and cry would have been raised and the Government would have been forced to immediately start the investigation.
The Government has verbally assured that the case would be handed to the CBI or any Central agency, but for reasons which should be clear to all, this has not gone down well with quite a large number of people.
There are reasons for this for the CBI or any other Central agency are not exactly known to have cracked all the sensitive cases that have been handed over to them.
With the Government not showing the sense of urgency and the willingness to crack the case, it is not surprising to see numerous theories doing the round.
It also stands that there is a good chance that the suspicion may not necessarily be theories.
Given the fact that the compound of the erstwhile school has been occupied by different security forces, there is a reason why suspicion has been voiced that the remains could belong to any one of those who had disappeared after being picked up by security personnel.
It is no coincidence why there is a body called the Family of Involuntarily Disappeared Association, Manipur or FIDAM in short.
The Government should need no reminding that numerous people have mysteriously disappeared after they were picked up by suspected security personnel or men in uniform.
There is again a solid reason why ‘midnight knock’ has come to take a special meaning here.
These facts should not be allowed to disappear in the face of sheer insensitivity on the part of the Government and that is why the State Government need to demonstrate that it is intent on cracking the case and explaining how and why human skulls were recovered from the erstwhile Tombisana High School campus.
No reason why the issue should be trifled with. It is unlikely that any body would have been disposed at the school campus, given the fact that the school stood at a high security zone, just plumb opposite to the then State Assembly.
The Government has to do more than just the verbal assurance or promise to probe the matter.
Best it would be for the State, the people and the Government that the matter is probed diligently and the culprits, if there are any, are booked and punished fittingly.
The Government should also keep in mind that any delay or ham handed manner in dealing with the case would only give substance to the suspicion that secret killings have received the blessings of the Government.
