Backgrounds
It's only because of an accident that happened in the 16th century during the time of King Pamheiba that NorthEast region didn't become a country. The colonial British about to leave India in 1947 knew that the region was different in every aspects (except hinduism) from the rest of India and should be a political entity independent from both India and Burma (according to 'Schizophrenic alienation of NE India: Its historical roots' by Lal Dena webcasted in e-pao.net ).
My argument is that if the Meitei (lets call it a tribe also and come out of the false grandeur) had not embraced Hinduism and
the eventual separation between the Meitei and the other tribes had not taken place, the assimilation of other tribes would continue even to this day.
2/3rd of the Meitei are assimilated Kuki tribes as inferred from the Meitei rituals of Sangei khunthoklon according to some articles in Kuki International Forum. Even the Meiteilon is a category of the Kuki Chin dialect. According to Lai Haroaba and
Mera Hou Chongba, Tangkhuls are our brothers. So now what we see! Hinduism was and is the wedge that divides the Meitei from the other tribes.
If hinduism hadn't taken roots like a poison ivy among our midst preaching arrogance and looking down among our brothers and sisters, we could have unified politically like a single country. Come 1947, the British were planning to leave India, and the whole mongoloids people of NorthEast could have become an independent country (Hijam Irabot had this vision I think, when he started to rebel).
Actually, Manipur was an independent country for one year from August 1947 to October 1948. It was occupied under duress by India under the Iron-man of India, Vallab Bhai Patel the then Home Minister. But why! Because we were so small both politically, economically and demographically (population). But if it was NorthEast as a whole, it would have been a different history altogether.
Now how to bring solution and peace in NorthEast
NorthEast as an integral part of ASEAN
NorthEast should be an autonomous region within the Indian state with separate currency (to be able to print our own currency) and economic policy. We should have a political set up almost like a country comprising the states of
1. Arunachal Pradesh
2. Manipur
3. Mizoram
4. Meghalaya
5. Nagaland
6. Sikkim
and the mongoloid inhabited areas of
8. Assam and
9. Tripura
This is all the more important after the realization how the Indian army is behaving with the mongoloid people for their demoralizing defeat in the Indo-china war
of 1962. Their policies are based on distrust of the NorthEast and the desire to subdue the region. This mindset of the Indian Army and all their subsequent actions can be seen in all their policy and in their rhetoric of national security.
That is the reason why any report and recommendations on AFSPA are shelved and not to be implemented. You will not find any mongoloids from NorthEast in any sensitive and important security position. If there is, prove me wrong.
The populations of
1. Arunachal Pradesh - 1.091 million
2. Manipur - 2.388 million
3. Mizoram - 0.891 million
4. Meghlaya - 2.306 million
5. Nagaland - 1.988 miilion
6. Sikkim - 0.540 million
and the mongoloid inhabited areas of
8. Assam and - maybe about 2 million (total 26.638 million)
9. Tripura - maybe about 1 million (total 3.191 million)
Each state's population is miniscule in itself but quite enough and handful as a total about 12.204 million (even than compare the total population with the population of Delhi about 1.378 million) and will give us the strength in terms of
i. Population and
ii. Landmass
to function as a self sustaining economic and political entity. What I mean by self sustaining economic entity is the ability to survive without external help and develop itself. Once we achieved the above as a political and economic reality, we are ready to integrate as a member of the ASEAN and not just as a trading partner.
This is something all of us should ponder whether it be
i. Social organization viz. Apunba Lup, AMUCO, Naga Hoho, Kuki Int. Forum etc
ii. Student Organization viz. AMSU, ANSAM etc
iii. Bureaucracy
iv. Political groups and
v. the underground outfits
Especially the Social Organizations should come out with pro-active roles and reason with Underground outfits to give a hard thought about bringing peace.
To ASEAN from your Brother
(we are more asean than we are Indian)
ASEAN, ASEAN
Let's go to ASEAN
ASEAN is closer to us
In race, in culture
ASEAN is fair
In struggles and in democracy
ASEAN, ASEAN
Let's go to ASEAN
ASEAN will protect us
From class and racially motivated domination
ASEAN will prevent us from demographic change
(case of Tripura and Assam)
ASEAN, ASEAN
Let's go to ASEAN
ASEAN will free us
To express our ideas and freedom
Without fear
ASEAN will make us dream again
Our land will be ours
We will be what we are
We will be what we dream
To be continued ....
