Tree Plantation Drive By Red Shield Division
Red Shield Division and its formations deployed in Manipur undertook a major plantation drive in the State as part of the ‘Van Mahotsav’ Celebration. Military Stations throughout the country are often called ‘Lungs of the City’ due to their ‘green footprint’ in each location.
In Manipur, the soldiers of Red Shield Division are located in far flung areas of Senapati, Tamenglong, Bishenpur & Churachandpur. As part of the event more than 3000 plants were planted by the soldiers and their families across these districts. 113 Mango saplings of different varieties were planted to from a Mango Orchard at Leimakhong as Parts of its horticultural plan which envisages a fair mix of fruit bearing, ornamental & shady trees.
In years to come, such measures will make Manipur more environment friendly and will contribute to the maintenance of the ecological balance in the State. Red Shield Division is further planning to extend its plantation drive along with the Forest Department to make the State a healthy place.
