‘‘Chanu Creations has providing 300 Hours - Fresh Training (Skill Development) on Two Shaft Handloom Weaver at Gouranagar, Hojai District of Assam under NSFDC SDTP for the year 2017-18’’
Handlooms (weaving) being a traditional feminine occupation, women find it convenient and safe to work. Many women, be they educated or illiterate, got jobs in this sector.
Hence taking a little additional effort can be a good source of income generation through value addition for their products so that weavers could accept weaving as an occupation for livelihood.
By giving women skills and new opportunities, we can unlock their full potential and enable every woman to find a new meaningful place in society.
Training Programme - Handloom Weaver at Gouranagar, Hojai District of Assam
Under the National Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation (NSFDC) Skill Development Training Programme (SDTP) for the year 2017-18 in collaboration with Textile Sector Skill Council (TSC), Chanu Creations has providing 300 Hours - Fresh Training of skill development to Schedule Caste Candidates on Two Shaft Handloom Weaver at Gouranagar, Hojai District of Assam training started from 24th December, 2017.
Recently, Chanu Creations has provided 12 Hours - RPL Training to 100 Nos. of SC Candidates at Azara Keotpara, Kamrup District of Assam under NSFDC in collaboration with TSC. Chanu Creations is marching towards the transformation and reformation of the working condition of these particular women.
As per the handloom census 2009-10, there are 23.77 lakh handlooms in the country, of which 16.47 lakh handlooms (69.28%) are in NER. The region has contributed an important share in handloom sector in terms of number of employed or owning of looms.
When the number of handloom weaver households decline in India, the region recorded increase of number of weaver households from first (14.6 lakh) to the third (15.1 lakh) census.
